Science: Earth Science
This High School level course is designed for 8th-10th grade level students. This laboratory-based earth science physical science course begins by covering the general properties of the earth’s geosphere including rocks, plate tectonics, and fossils, earth's hydrosphere, and earth's atmosphere. The complexities of our atmosphere lead to a discussion of weather and the course ends with two chapters on space, one that covers the solar system and one that covers the universe as a whole.

Students will sign up for both the Earth Science Lecture class (1 hour) and the Earth Science Lab class (1 hour) for a total of 2 class hours each week.
Earth Science Lecture Class
This High School Earth Science course is a study of Physical Science which begins by covering the general properties of the earth’s geosphere including rocks, plate tectonics, and fossils, earth's hydrosphere, and earth's atmosphere. The complexities of our atmosphere lead to a discussion of weather and the course ends with two chapters on space, one that covers the solar system and one that covers the universe as a whole.
This course includes reading assignments, on-your-own questions, lecture, and tests.*
1 class hour each week. $250/year
Designed for 8th-10th grade level students.
Earth Science Lab Class
In this laboratory class, students will be performing lab experiments including mineral tests, rock analyses, fossil studies, density investigations, and magnetic property explorations. Students also get hands-on experience with waves, gases, wind, water purification, cloud formation, the Coriolis effect, precipitation, and acid/base interactions. Students will be learning how to record their experiments like a scientist and summarize their results in lab reports, showing off their work!
1 class hour each week. $250/year plus $75 lab supply fee.
